Tides of Tragedy: West Mersea's Hidden Dangers Exposed The drowning of a British Bangladeshi mother and daughter at West Mersea beach in Essex has sent shockwaves across the country.

Shelina Rahman, 41, and her 15 year old daughter Sameeha were trying to rescue a seven year old boy who had gotten into difficulty in the water when they themselves drowned.

The incident is part of a disturbing trend of accidental deaths in open water across the UK since May, with at least 29 fatalities reported.
